Samantha is a consultant hip and knee orthopaedic surgeon. Based within the Harley Street Health District, she practises at the prestigious Fortius Clinic, but also at the Cromwell Hospital and other leading hospitals around London.
“I see myself first and foremost as a surgeon who is going to offer someone individualised, evidence-based, expert, holistic care.”
Samantha has been a pioneer throughout her career. She became the first female surgeon in Europe to perform the Mako robotic hip replacement procedure, helping to advance the use of robotic-assisted orthopaedic surgery within the UK.
Fortius Clinic
Fortius Clinic is one of the UK’s leading orthopaedic and sports medicine providers, bringing together specialist consultants across musculoskeletal care, rehabilitation and surgery.
For Samantha, being part of both Fortius Clinic and the wider District creates access to a uniquely concentrated network of expertise and collaboration.
“There’s a rich network of experience and knowledge that I can tap into.”
That multidisciplinary environment is central to how she approaches patient care and ongoing professional development. The concentration of specialists across disciplines allows clinicians to collaborate and continually evolve approaches to treatment.
Samantha’s impact in the District
Alongside her clinical work, Samantha is passionate about widening access and improving representation within medicine. Through work with schools and medical organisations, she actively supports young people – particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds – to see careers in healthcare as achievable.
Reflecting on her training, she describes orthopaedics as a male-dominated specialty, but one where she remained focused on what she wanted to achieve.
“I think one cannot underplay the power of visibility.”
She recalls walking along Harley Street as a medical student and imagining what it might mean to one day work there herself.
“It’s amazing to be part of this history.”
Asked to describe Harley Street Health District, Samantha chooses three words:
“Excellence, history and choice.”
