US medical provider and academic research institution Northwestern Medicine (NM) has selected six ‘high potential’ digital health and medtech companies for a new 14‑week accelerator programme designed to fast-track UK and European innovation into the US market.
The cohort was chosen from 455 applications, in a process run by NM in collaboration with Founders Factory and The London Clinic.
The programme is the latest initiative to emerge since NM and The London Clinic announced a collaboration at the end of 2024, designed in part to leverage NM’s ‘experience in healthcare innovation’, the organisations said at the time.
The inaugural UK–Europe cohort includes post‑stroke rehabilitation, surgical analytics, fertility, women’s health imaging and oncology:
- MyoNerve – a closed‑loop wearable neuro‑stimulator for post‑stroke rehabilitation, offering continuous monitoring at significantly lower cost.
- Uncover (UNCOVR) – a surgical video AI platform that generates reports and coding to improve documentation quality and recover lost revenue.
- Cambridge Vision – an AI‑native outsourced admin service for clinics, initially focused on streamlining medical leave forms and similar high‑burden workflows.
- Genie Fertility – a non‑invasive fertility diagnostic that uses menstrual blood to replace biopsy‑based uterine testing; the company is based on Portland Street, close to the Harley Street Health District.
- MATRICIS – a French AI platform for gynaecological MRI, aiming to improve the early detection of endometriosis.
- Nucleo – an oncology imaging platform that automates CT‑based body composition and tumour analytics.
Each company will receive a financial investment alongside structured support, mentoring and access to clinical and commercial expertise on both sides of the Atlantic.
The six chosen companies are now completing a 14-week programme in residence at Founders Factory in London, before spending a further week in Chicago with Northwestern Medicine’s clinicians, mentors and innovation leaders.
“We saw a real gap in the market,” NM Ventures and Innovation vice president Hannah Koczka said.
“This programme is about translating UK and European healthcare innovation into the US much earlier and using our unique presence on both sides of the Atlantic, and our venture and innovation arm, to bring the best of that ecosystem together.”
