Women’s health specialist Dr Beri Ridgeway to take over leadership of US giant’s London team.
US private hospital giant Cleveland Clinic is moving its chief of staff to the UK to head up its London team.
Dr Beri Ridgeway – a urogynecology specialist and seasoned senior leader at the organisation – will take over as president of Cleveland Clinic London from the beginning of June, according to the provider.
Dr Ridgeway is moving to the UK from the organisation’s headquarters in Ohio to take over from current incumbent Dr Rob Lorenz, who is moving to ‘a new role managing Cleveland Clinic’s relationship with the Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford,’ the provider said.
The change in leadership comes as the US firm prepares a ‘significant’ expansion of its London operations with the construction of a cancer centre next to its existing inpatient hospital at Grosvenor Place, which opened in 2022.
The centre – which is slated to open by the end of next year – will expand the Clinic’s cancer services to include medical oncology and haematology care, including systemic cancer therapies, such as immunotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapies and radiotherapy.
Speaking to the Harley Street Health District Digest as the project got underway, Cleveland Clinic spokesperson Victoria Vinci said the expanded services will be a ‘complementary’ addition to its outpatient diagnostics provision at Portland Place in the District, which was the first facility it opened in London, back in 2021.
“This development enables us to deliver a truly end-to-end offering in cancer care,” she added.
Dr Ridgeway joined the Cleveland Clinic professional staff over 15 years ago in 2009 following her role as associate chief of staff and chair of the Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Women’s Health Institute. She also served as the inaugural academic chair for the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Reproductive Biology.
